On July 27th, Pete (BigRedSixTwo) sent me a “flirt” on American Singles. I was immediately curious about him, so I sent him a reply. We began to correspond almost daily by email, and spoke over the phone for the first time four days later. At the time, I was living in Crestone, Co. and Pete lived in Pueblo, Co., a 3 1/2 hour drive! Since I had an appointment in a city near Pueblo, we arranged by phone to meet there for our first date on August the 6th.
Pete came to my motel room with three pink roses for me, and there was an immediate attraction between the two of us. He was an absolute gentleman, and treated me with respect and dignity from the first moment. We went to dinner at a quaint Mexican restaurant then went for a walk to work-off dinner at Pueblo's new River Walk. We walked with our arms around each other's waists, laughed, joked, and felt entirely comfortable with each other. We stopped on a little bridge overlooking a small water fall, and Pete kissed me. WOW! It was love at first kiss for both of us!! From that day forward, Pete and I were either together or at least talking on the phone.
We soon discovered that we were so much alike, and had so much in common, that we seemed to be the male and female halves of one whole person! Our love for each other very quickly grew and blossomed. On one of his many trips to Crestone to visit me, Pete proposed to me! Though I was a bit shocked at the suddenness, I immediately accepted. Pete and I both knew, and realized that we were destined to be with each other for the rest of our lives!
Just five weeks after we met, on September the 12th, in a small park in Pueblo, on a warm and sunny afternoon, Pete and I were married wearing jeans and matching T-shirts. There were only two witnesses, and the Pastor, but our special day was blessed by God above. Everywhere we went on our special day, we received special little gifts. We have discovered much about each other, and the diversity of our likes and dislikes. While neither of us is perfect, we have discovered that we are perfect for each other, and the adventure of life's challenges continues....quite happily!
